Equity and Healing Community Mediation Services
Equity and Healing Community Mediation is a process that combines educational coaching and emotional and community healing support with practical mediation for individuals and small groups involved in a conflict based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, ability, political perspectives, beliefs, or other situational misunderstandings. These issues can’t always be healed through the lens of nondiscrimination policies and when they are, they can sometimes lead to harmed individuals feeling disillusioned.
Clients engage in this mediation style to underscore their DEI+ commitment as an organization or group and to support the development of individual and community healing. Some use it to design a mutually acceptable agreement together.
As a mediator, I support healthy, constructive, oppression-challenging engagement while offering expertise-based coaching to gain clarity on their DEI+ values and personal gaps through reflection, direct education, and somatic and other healing support. Some clients continue with coaching to bolster accountability in their learning and unlearning journey.
Equity and Healing Community Mediation works in many different environments, with different problems, participants, and outcomes, including navigating issues related to microaggressions, implicit bias, and political/ intergenerational challenges that frequently undermine a welcoming, fair, and inclusive community.
